Confusion in the Arsenal/Rapids Potential Buyout
By: Clint | March 29th, 2007What on earth does this mean?
“Arsenal football club shareholder Stan Kroenke issued a statement saying he has no comment on speculation surrounding the club, following an article in The Times yesterday that carried comments by Jurgen Mainka who was referred to as a spokesman for Kroenke.
Mainka was cited as saying ‘There’s no interest or intention in buying any shares or any pieces of Arsenal Football Club, or any club in the Premier League’.
Today’s statement said: ‘Stan Kroenke wishes to make clear that Mr Mainka is not a spokesman for Stan Kroenke and these comments were not authorised by Stan Kroenke. Stan Kroenke does not comment on speculation.’”
This story was on several financial sites yesterday, but I don’t know what to make of it.

Sounds like one of those classic non-denial denials after someone denied a little too much.
Just so you know, Clint, this Rapids-Arsenal thing does make us mortal enemies (I’m a Spurs fan). Shame I kind of like your new uniforms though.

Bill Simmons efforts as a Spurs fan was the most over-hyped, under-achieving effort since we signed Sergei Rebrov for eight hundred million pounds. Truly dire.
Still, at lease we’re not about to be bought by Stan Kroenke…It’s so much more traditional to be run by the investment vehicle for a Bahamas-based currency-dealing billionaire, after all.

i’m hoping that as a season ticket holder i can get a discounted offshore gambling account.
rebrov was such a disappointment despite being a KING in championship manager the year he transfered to spurs.
