Kroenke and Arsenal - The Plot Thickens
By: Clint | April 12th, 2007From the Telegraph:
The Arsenal chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, has admitted that he and his fellow board of directors are “in the dark” over whether American businessman Stan Kroenke is plotting a takeover bid for the club.
…
We are in the dark and I certainly have no idea of what his intentions are,” he said. “It was no secret that ITV were looking to sell their stake but you would have thought that they [KSE] would have contacted us before they bought it. But they didn’t and that’s their business. So I am none the wiser.”
Would it make a difference to me, Joe Fan, if Kroenke did buy Arsenal? Would I be able to get young Theo to pull weeds around my house this summer, or go to pool parties with Fabregas and his posse? Will Arsenal loan out Henry and van Persie to the Rapids for the second half of the MLS season? Other than a possible friendly between the Rapids and the Arsenal reserves, I’m not sure if an American takeover of yet another English club would amount to a hill of beans to me.
