Oy Vey! Mathis is Traded to the Red Bulls
By: Clint | March 29th, 2007The NY Red Bulls (remember when Apu said his favorite team was the NY Mets and pronounced it Nie Mets? that kills me everytime i think of it. with the pseduo-Texas accent and all) are believed to have acquired Clint Mathis (son of Jerry?). Maybe NY gave Colorado the remains of Giorgio Chinaglia’s dignity in return.
Wasn’t Clint (thanks for stealing my name - now get outta here, this town aint big enough for the both of us Clints) going to be a star in MLS just a few years ago? In 2000, the year he was first traded to NY (just the Pink Calves back then), he was second in the league in scoring and was considered one of the top players in the league and a surefire fixture on the national team. Well, all I can say to that is…
SERVES YOU RIGHT, NAME-THIEF!!
But seriously though, you’re alright kid. Good luck in New Yorkie.
And thanks for the tip, Bob!

Mathis, Reyna and Arena reunited again. That is almost as exciting as Beaver, Wally and Eddie Haskel on a reunion tour.

Great Simpson’s reference, but I’m not sure either team is hurt or helped too much by this move. The Nie Red Bulls are certainly not my favorite squadron.

Thanks so much, Clint, for rendering me unable to see “NY” as anything by “Nie” now. Damn you!

And the Nie Yankees are on ESPN right now.
Hey Martha, let me know if you ever want to sit around and talk about how great the Nie Cosmos were!
