Rapids Reserves Win, Continuing their Assault on Greatness

By: Clint | May 28th, 2007

It isn’t just the big boys who are winning this year - the Rapids reserves are now 3-0-1 after spanking the Galaxy, 3-0, at The Dick. Jacob Peterson added another goal to the two he scored midweek while Omar Cummings assisted on two goals and earned the team a penalty in the first half. Keel and Zach both played the entire game (alright - clean sheet for Zach!) and Santino Quaranta came on as a second half sub for the Galaxy but apparently did not turn water into wine as I hoped he would. I’m gonna stick behind Quaranta, Herculez, and Altidore as the three best MLS-raised players in 2008 for now, although Taylor and Eddie are making me look pretty foolish at the moment.

Quaranta? What has he EVER done? He’s shown some talent, knocked a girl up and got married and 7 games (for LA) into 2007 he’s still overweight and out of shape. The kids got talent unfortunately one of his talents is squandering his soccer skills.

Wow. Watching the Rapids-TFC game on Direct Kick. What a joke the Rapids TV crew are. First, the fields is pronounced BeeMo (do your homework, it’s not a secret); second, Welsh is English, not Scottish; third, Dichio is pronounced Dick-ee-oh, not Ditch-ee-oh; fourth, there’s no need to keep pointing out that Toronto is in Canada, we know where it is; fifth, TFC crowd IS intelligent (when Cunningham gets dumped at the top of the 18 yard box in 40th or so minute and there’s no call they jeer because the whole point of having a home field advantage is to influence the other team and the ref–if there were more hostile environments in MLS it would be a more respectable league). Get a clue guys.

I didn’t get to see the game this weekend but what you say sounds exactly what I would have expected. 99% of local broadcast teams are the suck and Colorado’s is no exception.
