Rapids to Play Exhibition Match vs. Valencia

By: Clint | February 16th, 2007

In addition to pre-season training in Mexico, the Rapids will be traveling to London in March to train at Arsenal’s facilities, then moving down to Spain for more training and an exhibition match vs. six-time Spanish champions, Valencia (on March 21). This practice of traveling to other countries for friendlies (that word does more to make soccer hated in the USA as low-scoring games do), as well as the inter-country club partnerships that keep cropping up reminds me of several concepts that are in “How Soccer Explains the World“. Globalization in a sports-fan’s nutshell - good reading material for anyone who hasn’t picked it up yet.
