US U-20’s Upset Brazil
By: Clint | July 6th, 2007Maybe it’s the beer talking, but that US-Brazil game was better than any MLS game I’ve ever seen. Adu and Altidore are unreal. Apparently, ESPNU is going to cover the rest of the U-20 world cup, so I have to figure out what channel that is on local Comcast. Regardless of the score though, this was easily the best game I’ve seen played in North America that I can remember.

That was indeed a great game for USA !!!!
A very well deserved win.

Amazing game. Amazing. I’m so glad that ESPN kicked it from ESPNU to the real deal, or I couldn’t have watched it. Beautiful, beautiful soccer. (So lovely it deserves to be called “football.”)
The US team’s skill on the ball during the first half was nothing short of amazing. I knew they couldn’t keep it up second half and they didn’t (NO human being can run like that for 90 minutes), but they did what was needed.
I’ve never felt the need to say this before, but: U!S!A! U!S!A! U!S!A!

I second that, Laurie. Brazil is so much fun to watch (not as good as Argentina though, right, Albo?), but both teams were fantastic throughout the first 70 minutes, and after that, the U.S. defense and goalkeeping rose to the occasion (the offense - meh, but they had to be wiped out from all the earlier sprints and high workrate).
I just found out our Comcast doesn’t carry ESPNU - BOOOO on that!

I don’t think this was an upset at all. I had money on our boys to win it. We have 7 really good prospects on this squad: Zizzo, Szetela, Robbie Rogers, Altidore, Seitz, and of course, Bradley and Adu. The latter might be playing he was on to a major European squad with his performance so far. Seitz was just amazing and Zizzo might be our most unsung hero.

Absolutely, I haven’t seen Seitz play for RSL yet, but if he can keep the ball in his hands more often he seems like a good bet to be the next great U.S. keeper.
