A player is also a person - and in this case - that person (21 at the time) was a ridiculous drinker. Junior always had talent - but he wasn't exactly professional while in the USA. I think what you're missing is that when he went back to England, he perhaps started taking his chosen career seriously. Of course over there he also was changed with sexual misconduct - which I think was dropped. A model citizen he was not. A player is not just talent alone. A player is also a person – and in this case – that person (21 at the time) was a ridiculous drinker.
